The lesson behind today's story is when it comes to .22 rimfire you can never test your setup and ammunition enough.
So this weekend just gone I had shot the first prs match of the year, really fun day out great amount of competitors , beautiful weather. The only variable was the switchy winds and ammunition. Winds were not anything particularly crazy, only 3-5mph but the issue was it was going from a left hold to right hold mid stage but nothing we can do about this we can only make the adjustments from what we can see and send it! However I had made a purchase of some ammunition that was a new batch number I had not used before.
I got out a few days before the competition to test with it and get some data, speeds, BC ect ect and one thing i noticed was on 10 shot groups it was consistently throwing 1-2 shots way outside of the group. This made me a little nervous as on competition day if I missed would it be because it was an error on my behalf was it a changing wind or did I just have one of those crazy flyers. This is still a mystery so far and I need to have a closer look into it.
On the day it was a famine or a feast when it came to stages they were either completely
perfect clears or struggling to hit a target. I have always said that it is ok to have a bad day as long as you learn something from it. Now when I have a chance I have all the data from that day so now it's just a case of getting the time to figure out what the learning point of the day is, besides TEST TEST TEST of course.
Any ideas as to what went wrong feel free to message me on Instagram @SubMOAGuy
Also exciting news ahead, we have started getting together the pieces needed to shoot
centrefire prs so more to come with that.
Hope you all stay safe and have a great week.
