International PRS competition
Today was a nervous day for me not your typical pre-competition nerves it was now the fact that the scores I put out didn't just reflect me but also the sponsor and equipment that I was using.
Along with the fact that I have always been a factory shooter, just take the rifle put a scope on it and a bipod and you were ready to go. Now I had everything the Delta 22 could trow at me too, both internal and external weights, balance points and a plethora of ergonomic adjustment like length of pull, comb height and angle even pistol grip distance just to name a few.
Early start as always. Get their early, get signed in, Can of Red Bull while having a quick chat with the guys, confirm zero on the rifle and we are ready to go.
Stage briefing happens and I get assigned to squad 2 and we get ready to start. Very first stage for us is “Skills Stage” so not only worried about points but the clock too. Once the beep goes I approach the prop rifle in one hand bag in the other and as soon as i lay down that rifle on my barricade bag everything just feels effortless. A little over a minute later 10 shots fired and 10 impacts. Great start and I'm over the moon. Good scores for me were a common part of the day 8’s 9’s and the occasional 10.
Day one was great only 9 points dropped over the course of the day where usually I would have been dropping 3 to 4 per stage before.
Day two started with a rough 2 stages had sequence issues on my second stage hitting multiple targets but only to be out of sequence and only confirming one point and another stage having dropped 5 after those i started to level out and shoot well for the day but at that point the damage was done but we learn from our mistakes and move on.
It was a fantastic competition with a great course of fire and unbelievable talent in the other shooters there quiet a few of whom are representing Ireland in the PRS World Championships this year and two of which where in my squad. Always nice to shoot with and learn from the pros.
Until the next competition.
Slán,
